Leaders in Howard County

The Tau Pi Chapter is driven by a network of dedicated committees, each playing a vital role in executing the fraternity’s mission and programs. These committees reflect our commitment to excellence, leadership, and service throughout Howard County and beyond.

Achievement Week / Founders Day Program

  • Plans and organizes Tau Pi’s nationally mandated Achievement Week Program and oversees the awardee selection process.

Benevolence

  • Chaired by the Chaplain, this committee keeps the chapter informed of sick and shut-in members and sends cards and condolences as appropriate.

Budget

  • Constructs the chapter’s proposed budget, allocates resources to committees, and explores business opportunities to strengthen Tau Pi’s financial health.

Chapter Cookout

  • Organizes and executes the Annual Tau Pi Chapter Cookout—a celebration of gratitude for members, friends, and sponsors.

Executive Committee

  • Comprised of elected officers, committee chairs, former Basilei, and district/national officers. Provides strategic guidance and ensures effective execution of chapter programs.

Gospel Concert

  • Coordinates the annual Gospel Concert/Extravaganza in partnership with the Howard County Office on Aging.

Holiday with Omega

  • Manages the planning and execution of Tau Pi’s annual Holiday with Omega fundraiser.

Membership Selection

  • Administers the Membership Selection Program (MSP), ensures adherence to fraternity guidelines, and educates newly initiated members.

Memorial Service

  • Responsible for organizing the chapter’s observance of Omega Psi Phi’s Memorial Service traditions.

Mentoring

  • Develops and implements mentoring initiatives to support youth and community development.

Pan-Hellenic

  • Represents Tau Pi in the local National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and keeps the chapter informed of NPHC activities.

Parliamentary

  • Ensures chapter meetings and procedures adhere to parliamentary rules and fraternity governance.

Property

  • Manages chapter assets and property-related responsibilities.

Reclamation

  • Designs and administers programs to re-engage inactive members in alignment with national reclamation efforts.

Recommendations

  • Investigates mandates and proposals, develops written recommendations, and advises the Basileus on implementation status.

Retention

  • Creates and manages programs to retain active membership year after year, in line with national retention strategies.

Scholarship

  • Promotes academic excellence, administers annual scholarships, and supports literacy initiatives. Scholarships are open to all children of financial members and are distributed through the Tau Pi Foundation.

Social Action

  • Implements and monitors Tau Pi’s social action programs, addressing key social issues in alignment with fraternity goals.

Talent Hunt

  • Plans and administers the nationally mandated Talent Hunt Program, tracks winners’ progress, and coordinates their participation in District Meetings.

Webmaster / Information Technology

  • Maintains and updates the chapter website (www.taupiques.org), manages communication systems, and explores innovative tech solutions to enhance chapter operations.
